Portland GiveBack is Benefiting Free Geek with local artist Sienna Morris
This September 26th, from 4:30 to 9 pm Portland GiveBack will feature the work of local numberist artist Sienna Morris. Free Geek, the event’s beneficiary, will directly receive 100% of donations and 50% of art sales towards their programs. Free Geek’s mission is to recycle technology and provide access to computers, the Internet, education and job skills in exchange for community service. They have been serving with Portland metro area with their programs and technology thrift store since 2000.
Sienna’s intricate work uses numbers and equations to make up the subjects of her pieces, a style called “numberism.” A pioneer in her artistic field, Sienna’s background in math and science creates a stunning visual metaphor that bridges the gap between the arts and sciences.
Just one block up from MLK and Alberta, the event occurs on the last Thursday of September, during the Alberta Art Walk. This free event will be catered by The Great Escape Catering, and beer will be provided by Rail Side Brewing. Wine will be provided by Arbor Brook.
Portland GiveBack raises money during a triannual art event during the Last Thursday Alberta Arts Walk. Some of our past beneficiaries include The Humane Society, Friends of Trees, p:ear, Mercy Corps, Family Dogs New Life Shelter, and Raphael House. Our featured artists generously donate 50% of their art sales to the charity and 100% off all donations at the event go to the charity. We successfully raised $3,340 for Raphael House, a domestic violence agency, this May.
The event is free and open to the public.
